What is MOPS? MOPS stands for Mothers of PreSchoolers. MOPS is a worldwide non-denominational ministry that encourages mothers of young children, who are adjusting to the joys and challenges of motherhood. MOPS is about celebrating motherhood, meeting needs, making connections, and experiencing God's love. MOPS International exists to encourage, equip and develop every mother of preschoolers to realized her potential as a woman, mother, and leader in the name of Jesus Christ. While many organizations focus on making a better world for our children, at MOPS focuses on making better children for our world. How? By meeting the needs of their mothers, because when we impact a mom, we impact a child, and ultimately, impact the world. Better moms make a better world.
The mission of MOPS of Martha Bowman MUMC is to be an open and supportive fellowship that exemplies Christ's love through instruction, nurture, service and outreach to mothers of preschoolers for the glory of Jesus Christ.
Who can be in MOPS? MOPS is open to ANY mother of children, newborn through age 5.
When and where does MOPS of Martha Bowman MUMC meet? Meetings are generally held on the first Friday of the month (September through May) from 9:15 AM to 11:45 AM. See our calendar for variations in dates. All meetings are held at Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church, in the Christian Life Center (CLC).
What do you do at MOPS meetings? Monthly meetings include food, fellowship, various speakers, discussion group time, and an occassional craft.
What do I do with my children? Childcare is provided for meetings by reservation only, for children age 12 weeks to 5 years. This program is called MOPPETS. To reserve a spot in MOPPETS, e-mail your reservation to MOPPETS Administrator . State your name, your child's name, our child's age, and your phone number.
If you do not receive an e-mail back, then you have a reservation for that meeting. Please make MOPPETS reservations as soon as possible (minimum one week in advance) since space is limited andis often full the week of the meeting. If you have additional questions about MOPPETS reservations, you may contact the MOPPETS Administrator.
If you have made a reservation for your child and you know that you will not be able to attend, please e-mail the MOPPETS Administrator or call her as soon as possible. This way, others may be able to attend in your place. If you need to cancel the morning of the event, please call the MOPPETS Administrator on her cell phone. Refer to MOPPETS for guidelines and policies.
What does it cost to join MOPS and attend meetings? There is a one-time $24 required annual fee, which allows you to join MOPS International. Due to the huge success of our Consignment Sales, the monthly $4 charge will be waived for all members for the 2008 - 2009 year.

Contact the Coordinator for past issues of the newsletter, or to get on our e-mail loop.
Is there anything else going on besides Friday morning meetings? Throughout the year, MOPS organizes activities and special events. Please see the monthly newsletters and calendar page for updates.
How do I find a phone number for the moms I meet? We distribute a photo directory so that you can get in touch with other moms in the group. These directories may not be used for soliciatation purposes.
What can I do to help and to get involved? Included in the Registration packet is a description of all our MOPS committees. We ask that everyone sign up to volunteer with at least one committee. This is the best way to get to know others in MOPS and an excellent way to help your MOPS group. Also, we are always looking for additional MOPPETS workers and volunteers. If you know of anyone interested, please contact the MOPPETS Administrator.
